European Eyes on Japan / Japan Today is an initiative of the EU-Japan Fest Committee. Since 1999 each year a couple of European Photographers are invited to photograph one of the various prefectures of Japan. The resulting work is published and shown in exhibitions traveling through Europe and Japan. The photographs are then donated to the prefectures of origin.
In 2008, for Volume 10, I was invited to photograph in Nagasaki. John Davies (UK), Marco Bohr (Germany) and Mette Tronvoll (Norway) were the other photographers invited that year.
European Eyes on Japan Volume 10 was exhibited in the Contemporary Urban Center in Liverpool during European Capital of Culture in 2010.
My contribution together with a selection from my Memory Traces project was shown at the Cocteau Gallery in Nagasaki.
